Anxiety and Panic Attack Support Group
The only support group of its kind in Mobile and Baldwin Counties! This group meets weekly for 15 weeks. The next group begins on July 10, 2008 and runs through October 16, 2008.

Panic Attack |
A sudden wave of intense apprehension, fearfulness, or terror, with physical symptoms such as shortness of breath, palpitations, and chest pains.

Panic Disorder |
Recurrent panic attacks that occur suddenly and without warning, and cause persistent concern. Attacks often occur for no apparent reason.

| Specific Phobia (Simple Phobia) |
Substantial anxiety caused by exposure to a particular feared object or situation.

Social Phobia |
Substantial anxiety caused by certain social situations or performing in front of a group.
|
| Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder |
Recurrent distressing thoughts and uncontrollable repetitive behaviors intended to reduce anxiety provoked by those thoughts. Symptoms last more than 1 hour a day and cause significant distress or interfere with normal functioning.

| Acute Stress Disorder |
Anxiety symptoms that last for up to 1 month following a traumatic experience.

| Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder |
Distressing thoughts, anger, and other anxiety symptoms that occur for more than 1 month following a life-threatening or severe traumatic experience.

| Generalized Anxiety Disorder |
Excessive anxiety and worry about a variety of things on most days for at least 6 months. Physical symptoms, such as muscle tension, increased heart rate, and dizziness, may also occur.

| Anxiety Disorder Due to a General Medical Condition | Pronounced anxiety, panic attacks, obsessions, or compulsions caused by a medical condition.
|
| Substance-Induced Anxiety Disorder |
Pronounced anxiety, panic attacks, obsessions, or compulsions caused by a medication, drug abuse, or exposure to a toxin.

Cost is $45 / per group. You may pay for the month or by the session. Checks, Credit and Debit cards are accecpted.
The group is small (only 6 allowed).
All attendees will need prior approval from Cindy Warren. This approval will come in the form of an intake session with Warren Counseling Services or from a faxed assessment from your current counselor.The group is psychoeducational in format.
A one time fee of $25 will cover the workbook.
The material used is compiled from leading experts in the DBT model.
Homework is required.
